International Counsellor Fly In Program Volunteer

We’re excited to invite current UCalgary international undergraduate students to volunteer for our International Counsellor Fly-In, taking place July 9–13.

This event brings high school guidance counsellors from around the world to campus to learn about UCalgary and the international student experience. As a volunteer, you’ll play an important role in helping counsellors understand what it’s really like to study, live, and thrive at UCalgary—so they can return home as informed ambassadors for future students.

    Volunteer opportunities may include:

    • Welcoming guests and providing directional/wayfinding support

    • Participating in student panels and sharing your personal experience

    • Supporting event logistics and transitions

    • Joining select meals and networking opportunities with counsellors from your region

    Why volunteer?

    • Free meals during assigned shifts

    • Invitations to select hosted dinners or networking events

    • Meaningful international networking opportunities

    • The ability to log your volunteer hours in Better Impact

    • A chance to represent your undergraduate experience and make a real impact on future students!

Volunteer roles will be assigned based on availability, interest, and event needs. Not all volunteers will participate in every activity. Interested? Please complete the volunteer intake form below. Selected volunteers will be contacted with next steps, training details, and schedules.

Please indicate the day(s) and times you are available to volunteer. (Select all that apply)

The University of Calgary, located in the heart of Southern Alberta, both acknowledges and pays tribute to the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, which include the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprised of the Siksika, the Piikani, and the Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations). The City of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta (Districts 5 and 6).

The University of Calgary is situated on land Northwest of where the Bow River meets the Elbow River, a site traditionally known as Moh’kins’tsis to the Blackfoot, Wîchîspa to the Stoney Nakoda, and Guts’ists’i to the Tsuut’ina. On this land and in this place we strive to learn together, walk together, and grow together “in a good way.”
