What is You at UCalgary 2024

Have you registered for our annual You at UCalgary event? Here’s everything you need to know about You at UCalgary 2024!

You at UCalgary is an exclusive event that takes place annually for newly admitted UCalgary students. If you have received an offer to the University of Calgary for Fall 2024, you would have received an email invitation to this event to your UCalgary email account. You’ll want to make sure that you register prior to April 6th to access the day’s event schedule and further instructions.

This will be your day to discover your future campus, connect with your faculty, learn about resources and start your journey as a first year dino! The You at UCalgary in-person event will be full of different things to do to take you around campus and talk to different campus representatives about life as a UCalgary student. The You at UCalgary online event will have different faculty sessions for you to get to know your future faculty! Don’t miss out on the Rex Passport Challenge, available for both the online and in-person event, where you’ll learn about various locations on campus for a chance to win one of four Study Abroad awards valued at $1,000 CAD each! During the in-person Passport Challenge, current UCalgary students will be available to assist you and a group and there will be general campus tours on a first-come, first-serve basis. During these 30-minute guided tours you will be accompanied by a current UCalgary student around campus.

Are you bringing along family to campus? Come and meet with representatives from student service areas and find out more information about resources and supports available for students on campus. Take place in sessions such as Financing Your Education and Supporting Your Student in First Year to learn more about transitioning students into university life!

Get a chance to meet with staff and faculty from your faculty and meet your future classmates at the Faculty Hubs. These Hubs will teach you about all the interesting and unique aspects of your faculty, whether it be the Arts and Science Honours Academy or the multitude of experiential learning opportunities across campus.

To attend this event, you must complete the following steps:

    1. Accept your offer

Accept your offer of admission and initiate the payment of your $500 admission deposit (non-refundable) for domestic students or $5000 admission deposit (non-refundable) for international students. Do you have questions about accepting your offer and paying your deposit? Learn more here.

    1. Register

Pre-register for the event by April 5th, 2024. Students who are eligible to attend this event will have received an invitation to their UCalgary email address. If you have questions or need help registering, please email us at events@ucalgary.ca

Students who register and attend the You at UCalgary event will be eligible for early course enrolment. Your new course enrolment time will be updated and visible in your student portal by April 30th after your attendance of the event is confirmed. The University of Calgary, located in the heart of Southern Alberta, both acknowledges and pays tribute to the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, which include the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprised of the Siksika, the Piikani, and the Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations). The City of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta (Districts 5 and 6).

The University of Calgary is situated on land Northwest of where the Bow River meets the Elbow River, a site traditionally known as Moh’kins’tsis to the Blackfoot, Wîchîspa to the Stoney Nakoda, and Guts’ists’i to the Tsuut’ina. On this land and in this place we strive to learn together, walk together, and grow together “in a good way.”
