David Thomas, Co-op Student with the Campus Food Hub

Welcome to the Campus Food Hub: Where Community and Good Eats Come Together!

Did you know that around 40% of Canadian university students and about 47% at the University of Calgary face food insecurity? That’s a big number, and it’s why we’re so excited to tell prospective students about the Campus Food Hub. We’re not just tackling this issue—we’re turning it into a community celebration of support, connection, and, yes, great food!

    Our Three Big Goals

At the Campus Food Hub, our goals are threefold: making food more accessible, boosting food literacy, and building a collaborative community. We want to ensure that everyone has access to affordable, nutritious food, learn how to make the most of it, and create a space where everyone feels welcome and part of the fun.

What’s Happening Now: Ladle UP! and Affordable Market

First up, we’ve got Ladle UP! —our weekly soup lunch that’s just $2! It’s more than a meal; it’s a chance for future Dinos to meet new people, and enjoy a delicious, nutritious soup. And if you’re wondering where you're going to buy fresh groceries, our Affordable Market sets up shop at the Campus Food Hub, bringing low-cost groceries right to our students!

What’s Coming Up: New Programs and Exciting Additions

Our Affordable Market, open three days a week, is packed with a variety of nutritious and budget-friendly groceries. It’s going to be your go-to spot for stocking up and saving some cash. But wait, there’s more! We’re rolling out a weekly breakfast program to help you kick-start your day. Think toast, coffee, fresh fruit, smoothies, and all the good stuff to keep you energized.

And if you’re into learning new skills, future UCalgary students will be excited to check out our workshops and classes! From cooking techniques to nutrition tips and meal planning, these sessions are designed to be both fun and super helpful. You’ll walk away with knowledge that makes cooking and eating well a breeze.

    A Team Effort

The Campus Food Hub is a collaborative effort made possible by Student Experience and Support (SES), the Student's Union (SU), the Graduate Student's Association (GSA), and Ancillary Services. Each of these amazing partners brings something special to the table, working together to create a space where everyone can feel supported and connected.

    Join the Fun!

The Campus Food Hub is more than just a place to grab a meal—it’s a lively, welcoming space where you will connect with others, enjoy great food, and learn something new. So, choose UCalgary and be part of our vibrant community. Together, we’re making our campus more food secure, and we can’t wait for you to join us!

The University of Calgary, located in the heart of Southern Alberta, both acknowledges and pays tribute to the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, which include the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprised of the Siksika, the Piikani, and the Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations). The City of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta (Districts 5 and 6).

The University of Calgary is situated on land Northwest of where the Bow River meets the Elbow River, a site traditionally known as Moh’kins’tsis to the Blackfoot, Wîchîspa to the Stoney Nakoda, and Guts’ists’i to the Tsuut’ina. On this land and in this place we strive to learn together, walk together, and grow together “in a good way.”
