The University of Calgary student recruitment team is committed to attracting top quality candidates to the institution by utilizing creative and compassionate methods to meet, listen to, inform, and advocate for prospective students from diverse backgrounds. Welcome Greeters are current UCalgary students with diverse backgrounds and experience who can provide honest and relatable impressions and information about UCalgary at our front-facing administration desk, and act as strong ambassadors for the campus community. Welcome Greeters engage with prospective students, parents and families at the greeter desk in front of the Prospective Student Hub and are often the first face that a prospective student is introduced when they visit campus.

Nature of Role:
The position provides a variety of shifts ranging from a 2 HR+ shift once per week in order to oversee the administration desk as part of the Prospective Student Hub. The administration desk often serves as the first impression for prospective students and families, and helps to organize the logistics of checking-in guests for on-campus advising and campus tours! This volunteer role also acts as a supporting role for prospective student events and initiatives.
Qualifications/Expertise Required:
- Current undergraduate student at the University of Calgary
- Meet an expectation of ongoing professionalism
- Possess strong English communication skills
- Enthusiastic and excited to share positive experiences at the University of Calgary
- Complete approximately 50 hours of volunteer services in the academic year
- Attend all scheduled training and mandatory activities
- Experience and familiarity with UCalgary campus life
- Cross cultural sensitivity and awareness
- Ability to balance the demands of an academic workload with the requirements of the volunteer position
- Previous experience in a customer service environment an asset
- Additional language skills considered an asset
