UCalgary Open House 2025: Your First Look at Life as a UCalgary Student

The countdown is on — Open House is happening Saturday, October 25, 2025! Have you registered yet? If not… stop right here and register before reading on!

This is your chance to explore everything UCalgary has to offer and get a real feel for what your future as a Dino could look like. From campus tours to discovery sessions, to connecting with students, staff, and alumni — Open House has it all.

What to Expect at Open House

Start in the Jack Simpson Gymnasium

Kick things off in our main exhibition hall, where every faculty at UCalgary is ready to meet you. From engineering to business to arts and beyond, you’ll discover all the ways to pursue your passions. Thinking about combining interests? You can even explore combined degree options — like kinesiology and business for a future in sports management. Talk to students and staff, and picture yourself finding your fit.

Explore Student Life at Hunter Student Commons

Next, head over to Hunter Student Commons. Here, you’ll find all the services and supports that make UCalgary more than just a place to study. Learn about experiential learning, study abroad, Dinos Athletics, Writing Symbols Lodge, career development resources, student wellness services, and so much more.
Be sure to stop by the Ask a Student booth for honest answers from current students, or head upstairs to the Prospective Student Hub, where our admissions and recruitment team can walk you through starting your UCalgary application right on the spot!

    Dive into a Discovery Session

Get a taste of university life by sitting in on a discovery session. These in-depth lectures connect you with faculty members, programs, and current students — and often take place in the same lecture halls and classrooms you could be learning in one day.

    See Campus for Yourself

Take a guided campus tour and imagine yourself here next fall. Explore specialized faculty spaces like Nursing’s Simulation Labs, Engineering facilities, or Art and Art History studios. You can also take a closer look at residences (don’t forget: UCalgary guarantees first-year housing if you apply by May 1) and student spaces like Active Living and our libraries.

How to Make the Most of Your Day

    • Download the Discover UCalgary app to create your personalized schedule, check event details, and even try a self-guided tour.

    • Plan ahead so you don’t miss discovery sessions or tours that matter most to you.

    • Take a lunch break at MacEwan Hall — a great spot to recharge and explore one of campus’s busiest hubs.

    • Say hi to Rex, our spirited UCalgary mascot, and capture a photo to remember the day!

Why Open House is Worth It

UCalgary Open House isn’t just about picking a program. It’s about stepping into our community, exploring spaces you’ll call home, and finding out how your future can take shape here. Whether you’re ready to apply or still exploring your options, Open House is the best way to picture yourself at UCalgary.

Don’t miss it — register today and get ready to start your journey.

The University of Calgary, located in the heart of Southern Alberta, both acknowledges and pays tribute to the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, which include the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprised of the Siksika, the Piikani, and the Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations). The City of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta (Districts 5 and 6).

The University of Calgary is situated on land Northwest of where the Bow River meets the Elbow River, a site traditionally known as Moh’kins’tsis to the Blackfoot, Wîchîspa to the Stoney Nakoda, and Guts’ists’i to the Tsuut’ina. On this land and in this place we strive to learn together, walk together, and grow together “in a good way.”
