    UCalgary Admissions and Recruitment

Discover UCalgary's Hunter Hub for Entrepreneurial Thinking!

Are you ready to shape your future at the University of Calgary? As a future UCalgary student, you'll have the opportunity to explore innovative ideas, develop entrepreneurial skills, and turn your ambitions into reality. At the Hunter Hub for Entrepreneurial Thinking, you'll be part of a dynamic community where students from all disciplines collaborate, create, and grow. Whether you dream of launching a startup, solving global challenges, or gaining a competitive edge in your career, UCalgary is the place to turn your ideas into action.

You arrive on campus with an idea—something small, maybe just a spark. A “what if.” What if this idea could turn into something real? Something impactful? As a prospective student, you’re not just choosing where to study. You’re choosing where your ideas will be taken seriously. And at the heart of it all is the Hunter Hub for Entrepreneurial Thinking. This is where ideas begin to take shape. Picture yourself stepping into a space designed for collaboration and creativity—surrounded by students from different disciplines, all working on something that matters to them. With mentorship, funding opportunities, internships, and access to industry leaders, you won’t have to wait until graduation to start building your future. You’ll begin now. As a future student, your learning won’t stay in the classroom. You might find yourself pitching a startup idea through the Launchpad program, refining your concept while competing for funding. Or maybe your summer looks different—growing a venture through the Summer Accelerator, guided by mentors who’ve been exactly where you are now.

Not every idea starts as a business—and that’s where programs like Map the System come in. Here, you’ll dig into real-world global challenges, learning to analyze problems deeply and propose meaningful solutions. Or you might choose Experience Ventures, working directly with innovative organizations and gaining paid, hands-on experience that builds both your confidence and your network.

Step by step, your “what if” begins to transform into “what’s next.” It’s no longer just about imagining possibilities—it’s about building them, testing them, and refining them into something real. Along the way, you have the freedom to shape your degree so it truly reflects your ambitions, your interests, and the kind of impact you want to make. At UCalgary, that journey is supported in meaningful, practical ways. The Embedded Certificate in Entrepreneurial Thinking allows you to develop essential, transferable skills—like creative problem-solving, leadership, resilience, and innovation—no matter what you choose to study. Whether you’re in science, arts, business, engineering, or beyond, you’re not limited to one path. Instead, you gain the ability to think differently, approach challenges with confidence, and turn ideas into action. These experiences don’t just complement your education—they elevate it, giving you a competitive edge long before you enter the job market.

At UCalgary, entrepreneurship isn’t something you only read about in a textbook. You’ll actively practice it. You’ll be encouraged to take risks in an environment designed to support and guide you. It’s about building a mindset that stays with you long after graduation.
So as you think about your next step, ask yourself: what could you create if you had the right support behind you? What problems could you solve? What ideas could you bring to life?

The Hunter Hub isn’t just a place—it’s a launchpad for those ideas. It’s where curiosity turns into creativity, and innovation turns into impact. And your journey as a Future Dino doesn’t begin after graduation. It starts the moment you decide to take that first step, lean into your potential, and bring your ideas to life.

The University of Calgary, located in the heart of Southern Alberta, both acknowledges and pays tribute to the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, which include the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprised of the Siksika, the Piikani, and the Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations). The City of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta (Districts 5 and 6).

The University of Calgary is situated on land Northwest of where the Bow River meets the Elbow River, a site traditionally known as Moh’kins’tsis to the Blackfoot, Wîchîspa to the Stoney Nakoda, and Guts’ists’i to the Tsuut’ina. On this land and in this place we strive to learn together, walk together, and grow together “in a good way.”
