The World is Your Campus: Global Learning for Future UCalgary Students!

As you stand on the brink of your university journey, the possibilities are endless, at UCalgary. Imagine not just studying, but living abroad, gaining experiences that set you apart in a global job market. UCalgary's Study Abroad programs allow you to immerse in new cultures, gain diverse perspectives, and build an international network. From studying in Costa Rica to Greece, UCalgary's global learning experiences enhance your education with unique courses and practical experiences. Discover how stepping beyond the classroom can shape your future with confidence and independence, making you a future-ready graduate. Let's explore how international experiences can set you apart and how UCalgary makes these opportunities accessible to all students.

In today’s interconnected world, employers and graduate schools are looking for graduates who think beyond borders.  The impact is real and measurable. Did you know? 90% of UCalgary Study Abroad alumni were accepted into their top-choice graduate programs. Employers say international experience makes job candidates more competitive. Study Abroad alumni earn, on average, 25% higher starting salaries. These aren’t just numbers—they reflect how transformative global learning can be.

If you’re a prospective student wondering whether this is actually within reach—especially financially—you’re not alone. It’s one of the most common concerns future students have. But here’s what surprises many: studying abroad at UCalgary can be more accessible than you think. Through exchange programs with more than 150 partner universities worldwide, you can study abroad while paying the same tuition you would in Calgary. That means you gain an international experience without taking on significantly higher costs. And when it comes to travel and living expenses, UCalgary offers scholarships and travel grants specifically designed to help make these opportunities possible.

So instead of asking, “Can I afford this?” a better question might be: “Where could this take me?” As a future student, the journey can start earlier than you expect. The more you explore your options and plan ahead, the more opportunities open up—from funding to program choices. Tools like the Study Abroad Program Finder make it easy to begin imagining what your global experience could look like. Because at UCalgary, your education isn’t limited to one place—or one perspective. As a prospective student, you have the opportunity to build a university experience that crosses borders, challenges you, and prepares you for a world that’s more connected than ever. And it all starts with one decision: to go beyond what’s familiar, and see just how far your story can go.

The University of Calgary, located in the heart of Southern Alberta, both acknowledges and pays tribute to the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, which include the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprised of the Siksika, the Piikani, and the Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations). The City of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta (Districts 5 and 6).

The University of Calgary is situated on land Northwest of where the Bow River meets the Elbow River, a site traditionally known as Moh’kins’tsis to the Blackfoot, Wîchîspa to the Stoney Nakoda, and Guts’ists’i to the Tsuut’ina. On this land and in this place we strive to learn together, walk together, and grow together “in a good way.”
