Get involved! Join a UCalgary club today

Are you a prospective UCalgary student looking to find ways to get involved? Then joining a club at our university is a perfect fit for you! With more than 300 clubs to choose from, there is a club out there just for you to enhance your student experience.

As a student, it is important to get the most out of your university experience. Joining a club is an excellent way to acquire new skills or expand on ones you already have. Clubs play an active role in developing essential skills that apply to all students such as communication, time management and collaboration, to name a few. There are many clubs specific to each faculty to build on your skills outside of the classroom and to apply your knowledge in a completely new setting! Here are a few popular and award-winning faculty-based clubs that might interest you:

    • Business: University of Calgary Consulting Association
    • Engineering: Schulich Ignite
    • Kinesiology: Kinesiology Students' Society
    • Nursing: Undergraduate Nursing Society
    • Science: Women in Science and Engineering

Clubs are an amazing way to meet like-minded individuals and create meaningful connections that will last a lifetime! Meeting students who are in the same program as you can be a great opportunity to form a group of students to study with and even bounce ideas of off each other! Apart from building lifelong friendships, students can expect to have several opportunities to build on their professional network. Clubs often host events throughout the year to connect students with special guests ranging from professionals from certain companies to previous UCalgary alumni, and everything in between. These events give students the opportunity to network and build on their professional connections!

Joining a club is a great way for students to pick up a new hobby and have some fun! There are several non-academic clubs for students who are interested in joining a community who have similar passions. Whether you are interested in playing music with other students, engaging in fun sporting activities, or even learning how to bake, there is a club out there for everyone!

At UCalgary, there is an opportunity to start your own club if you have the perfect idea for a niche on campus that needs to be filled. To start a club, students will need to be unique in name and mandate, have at least 20 initial members, present membership opportunities, and exist to promote the general welfare of students on campus. Whether you are joining an existing club or wanting to create something new, be sure to get the most out of your university experience and most importantly, get involved!

The University of Calgary, located in the heart of Southern Alberta, both acknowledges and pays tribute to the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, which include the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprised of the Siksika, the Piikani, and the Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations). The City of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta (Districts 5 and 6).

The University of Calgary is situated on land Northwest of where the Bow River meets the Elbow River, a site traditionally known as Moh’kins’tsis to the Blackfoot, Wîchîspa to the Stoney Nakoda, and Guts’ists’i to the Tsuut’ina. On this land and in this place we strive to learn together, walk together, and grow together “in a good way.”
