Why should you take a UCalgary Campus Tour?

    Explore UCalgary’s campus today!

Why should prospective students experience a campus tour at the University of Calgary? Campus tours are the best way to get a glimpse of what the University of Calgary has to offer and see why UCalgary is the perfect fit for you! We offer both daily in-person campus tours and bi-weekly virtual campus tours for you to explore.

During our in-person campus tour experience, you will get the chance to explore our classrooms, residences, athletic facilities, and so much more! Guests will be toured around campus by a current UCalgary student, and will have the opportunity to speak 1-on-1 with a UCalgary representative following your tour should you have any questions about submitting an application of admission. Our virtual campus tour option allows you to explore UCalgary’s campus from the comfort of your home! This 1 hour live-campus tour will allow you to explore our campus and instant chat with UCalgary advisors throughout the tour. The live virtual tour is streamed via our Prospective Student Facebook Account.

Campus tours are a fantastic way to help to determine ‘fit’. Fit is often thought of as a one-way street where universities are looking to determine if an applicant is a fit for their institution by way of the application process. Fit should be thought of as a two-way street and students need to also ensure that they believe the university is a fit for them as well. By taking a campus tour, you’ll be able to experience and imagine what life as a UCalgary student will be like by walking around our campus. You’ll get the chance to visit our lecture halls, see unique campus spaces, or even check out some of the most popular study or hang out spaces as showcased by our current student campus tour leaders. Campus tours are also the best way to gain in-depth knowledge about a university’s facilities and features. To give you a preview, here is a list of a few fun facts you might hear during one of our campus tours:

    • The Taylor Family Digital Library is the most technologically advanced library in North America.
    • The Olympic Oval is home to the fastest ice in the world.
    • The MacKimmie Tower is one of the most energy-efficient buildings on a Canadian postsecondary campus.

Experiencing one of our campus tours gives you insight on what life as a UCalgary student is like and is the perfect start to transitioning into university. Be sure to come prepared with your questions and enjoy what our campus has to offer! We hope you can join us for an upcoming tour and explore your new home.

The University of Calgary, located in the heart of Southern Alberta, both acknowledges and pays tribute to the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, which include the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprised of the Siksika, the Piikani, and the Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations). The City of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta (Districts 5 and 6).

The University of Calgary is situated on land Northwest of where the Bow River meets the Elbow River, a site traditionally known as Moh’kins’tsis to the Blackfoot, Wîchîspa to the Stoney Nakoda, and Guts’ists’i to the Tsuut’ina. On this land and in this place we strive to learn together, walk together, and grow together “in a good way.”
