UCalgary Application Tips: Let's Get You Ready to Apply!

It’s official – the countdown to your future at UCalgary has begun! The fall undergraduate application is now OPEN as of October 1, and we couldn’t be more excited for you. Whether you're just starting or already have some plans in place, we’ve rounded up some key tips to help you breeze through the application process like a pro. Ready? Let’s dive in!

    1. Apply Early – Don’t Wait Around!

We know you’ve got big dreams, so why wait to make them happen? The sooner you apply, the better. If you’re aiming for scholarships and awards, make sure to get your undergraduate application in before the December 1st Prestige deadline – that’s when the magic happens, because you can’t apply for scholarships until your UCalgary application is submitted, so don’t delay! Start your application here!

    2. Explore Programs Like a Pro

We’ve made it easy to explore UCalgary’s amazing programs all from the comfort of your couch. Take a deep dive into our unique program offerings and combinations online. Need more insight? Check out virtual faculty information nights, listen to our Choose UCalgary Podcast, or – better yet – visit us in person and take a campus tour to see our incredible facilities and test-driving your future campus!

    3. Do Your Research – Don’t Skip the Second Choice!

When you apply, you’ll choose a first and second program. If you’re not sure about your second choice, don’t leave it blank! Take some time to research and pick something that sparks your interest. Need help? Our friendly recruiters are just a message away to help guide you through your options.

    4. Apply for Scholarships ASAP!

Don’t forget, the Prestige award deadline is December 1! Yep, don’t wait for your admission offer to apply! As soon as you’ve submitted your undergraduate application, start applying for those awards. The earlier you apply, the more time you’ll have for your Prestige application – so get started now and thank us later.

    5. Submit Your Documents (Especially if You’re From Outside Alberta!)

If you’ve been going to high school in Alberta, sit back and relax – we’ve got your documents covered. But if you’re coming from outside the province, you’ll need to check your To Do list in your My UCalgary Student Centre and submit any required documents. Don’t delay – missing documents could hold up the decision-making process.

    6. Still Need More Tips?

Don’t worry, we’ve got plenty more resources to help you along the way. Check out our guides and publications to make sure you’re all set to go.

Good luck with your application – we can’t wait to see what amazing things you’ll do at UCalgary!

The University of Calgary, located in the heart of Southern Alberta, both acknowledges and pays tribute to the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, which include the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprised of the Siksika, the Piikani, and the Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations). The City of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta (Districts 5 and 6).

The University of Calgary is situated on land Northwest of where the Bow River meets the Elbow River, a site traditionally known as Moh’kins’tsis to the Blackfoot, Wîchîspa to the Stoney Nakoda, and Guts’ists’i to the Tsuut’ina. On this land and in this place we strive to learn together, walk together, and grow together “in a good way.”
