Applying as a Saskatchewan Applicant for the fall 2025 intake

The University of Calgary has introduced a number of new changes to the application process for Saskatchewan applicants. Learn more about how to apply as a Saskatchewan applicant for the fall 2025 intake.

Starting university in a new or different province can expand your horizons and challenge you to try new things! To support your application to UCalgary, this article will take you through the application process for a student from Saskatchewan.

    Where should I start?

Before you begin your application, you will want to explore our 250+ programs and program combinations spread across 10 of our 14 faculties. You will discover programs that interest you and help you select your top two program choices.

Our application allows you to apply to two programs; a first choice, and a second choice. If you receive an offer to your first choice, this is the only offer you will receive. We recommend you rank your choices with your most desired program as your first choice. Choose a program with a lower competitive admission average as your second choice.

Once you know the programs you will apply to, make sure you check the admission requirements for both programs. If you apply to a combined program, you will need to meet the admission requirements for both programs.

    When can I apply?

Applications for the Fall 2025 term open October 1, 2024, and will close March 1, 2025. In addition to March 1, 2025, being the last day to apply, it is also the last day to change your program choices within the application. It’s important to note that if you choose to change your application program choices after receiving an offer of admission, your offer of admission will be forfeited for us to complete another evaluation for your updated program(s) of choice.

    How do I apply?

Saskatchewan students will need to apply through the ApplyAlberta website before they can submit a UCalgary application. To do this, you will need to complete the following:

    1. Sign in using a Google account, Microsoft account or create an Alberta.ca account. If you logged in via Google or Microsoft, skip to step 6.
    2. If you created an Alberta.ca account, please confirm your email when prompted by email from ApplyAlberta.
    3. Create your Alberta Student Number (ASN) when prompted. If you have previously completed any type of schooling or training in Alberta, or if you have previously applied to a post-secondary school in Alberta, it is possible you may already have an ASN and therefore do not need to create a new one. To look this up, and to see if you have one, you can visit this website.
    4. If prompted to Confirm ID, do not click "Verify Account," as this will take you to input a driver's license, which is only for students located in Alberta. A “Basic Account” will suffice for the application. Instead, in the top right corner, click "Available services.”

    1. Then scroll down to "Post Secondary and Education" and click "Apply to programs at Alberta's post-secondary institutions." This will redirect you to AppyAlberta and you can "Login to Resume Application" using your Alberta.ca account information.

    1. Complete the AppyAlberta application. When prompted under 'Additional Information' to include Provincial/Territorial Student Numbers, ensure you include your Saskatchewan student number (Saskatchewan Learning ID). Note: Including your Saskatchewan Learning ID is an essential step that will allow us to match your application with the transcript you send through MyCreds.
    1. When prompted to select an interested university, select the University of Calgary.
    2. This will prompt a login screen, if you have applied to UCalgary before, enter your UCalgary eID and password, if not, you will need to create your UCalgary eID and password, then proceed to login.
    3. Complete and submit your application in the UCalgary portal. Please note when prompted with the question "Are you an applicant who has only studied outside Alberta and British Columbia?" Please select "No," as we are working to include Saskatchewan in this question.
    4. Pay your $125 (Canadian education) or $145 (International credentials) application fee.

    Sending in transcripts

Based on your application, we'll let you know in your myUCalgary Student Centre how and where to submit any required documents.

Saskatchewan transcripts must be shared through MyCreds by selecting "ApplyAlberta" as the receiving organization. If you applied through ApplyAlberta and included your Saskatchewan Learning ID in the application, we will automatically receive your transcripts when you apply, after semester 1 and at the end of the school year when you finish semester 2.

For non-semester/linear schools, students can submit interim transcripts with their mid-year assessment or marks after January 1. Interim transcripts can be uploaded via the Student Centre; documents should include the student’s full name.

If you have attended any other high school or post-secondary outside Alberta, BC or Saskatchewan, please refer to our documents page for more details on transcript submission.

    Frequently asked questions

I applied through ApplyAlberta and requested my transcripts to be shared via MyCreds to ApplyAlberta but my to-do list shows I am missing transcripts. What do I do?
Please email sask.recruiter@ucalgary.ca with your UCID and what has occurred. We will confirm if we have received your transcripts. If you applied through ApplyAlberta and shared your transcripts through MyCreds to ApplyAlberta, we will automatically receive your transcripts when you apply, after semester 1 and at the end of the school year when you finish semester 2.

When I applied, I did not include my Saskatchewan Learning ID. What do I do?
Please re-enter the application as you did before and include your Saskatchewan Learning ID when prompted in the ApplyAlberta application under 'Additional Information.'

I am a Saskatchewan student and when I applied, I did not apply through ApplyAlberta. What do I do?

If you haven't sent a transcript yet, you can send it by email through MyCreds to transcripts@ucalgary.ca. If you have already sent a transcript through MyCreds to ApplyAlberta, we will attempt to retrieve these before we start evaluations. If we are unable to receive it, we will be in touch over email. Please note, you will need to resend your transcripts through MyCreds by email after semester 1 is complete and again after semester 2. Please note, you will not need to pay again, simply reshare with the updated information.

What else can I do after I have applied?

We encourage you to take a guided tour of campus or attend a virtual event. If you would like to explore more on your own, you can download our Discover UCalgary App, which will lead you through a self-guided tour of campus. Our app will take you on a tour of campus even if you can’t physically make it to Calgary!

Need more support? Students from Saskatchewan are able to apply the same way as students from Alberta. There’s a quick walk-through guide available on our How to Apply page.

The University of Calgary, located in the heart of Southern Alberta, both acknowledges and pays tribute to the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, which include the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprised of the Siksika, the Piikani, and the Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations). The City of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta (Districts 5 and 6).

The University of Calgary is situated on land Northwest of where the Bow River meets the Elbow River, a site traditionally known as Moh’kins’tsis to the Blackfoot, Wîchîspa to the Stoney Nakoda, and Guts’ists’i to the Tsuut’ina. On this land and in this place we strive to learn together, walk together, and grow together “in a good way.”
