Applying as a BC Applicant for the fall 2025 intake

The University of Calgary has introduced a number of new changes to the application process for BC applicants. Learn more about how to apply as a BC applicant for the fall 2025 intake.

Starting university in a new or different province can expand your horizons and challenge you to try new things! To support your application to UCalgary, this article will take you through the application process for a student from British Columbia.

    Where should I start?

Before you begin your application, you will want to explore our 250+ programs and program combinations spread across 10 of our 14 faculties. You will discover programs that interest you and help you select your top two program choices.

Our application allows you to apply to two programs; a first choice, and a second choice. If you receive an offer to your first choice, this is the only offer you will receive. We recommend you rank your choices with your most desired program as your first choice. Choose a program with a lower competitive admission average as your second choice.

Once you know the programs you will apply to, make sure you check the admission requirements for both programs. If you apply to a combined program, you will need to meet the admission requirements for both programs.

    When can I apply?

Applications for the Fall 2025 term open October 1, 2024, and will close March 1, 2025. In addition to March 1, 2025, being the last day to apply, it is also the last day to change your program choices within the application. It’s important to note that if you choose to change your application program choices after receiving an offer of admission, your offer of admission will be forfeited for us to complete another evaluation for your updated program(s) of choice.

    How do I apply?

BC students will need to apply through the ApplyAlberta website before they can submit a UCalgary application. To do this, you will need to complete the following:

    1. Create an Alberta.ca account or sign in using a Google account or a Microsoft account.
    2. If you created an Alberta.ca account, please confirm your email in follow-up email from ApplyAlberta application form.
    3. Create your own personal Alberta Student Number (ASN) when prompted. If you have previously completed any type of schooling or training in Alberta, or if you have previously applied to a post-secondary school in Alberta, it is possible you may already have an ASN and therefore do not need to create a new one. To look this up, and to see if you have one, you can visit this website.
    4. When prompted to Confirm ID, do not click "Verify Account," as this will take you to input a driver's license, which is only for students located in Alberta. A “Basic Account” will suffice for the application. Instead, in the top right corner, click "Available services.”

    1. Then scroll down to "Post Secondary and Education" and click "Apply to programs at Alberta's post-secondary institutions." This will redirect you to AppyAlberta and you can "Login to Resume Application."

    1. Complete AppyAlberta application.
    2. When prompted to select an interested university, select the University of Calgary.
    3. This will prompt a login screen, if you have applied to UCalgary before, enter your UCalgary eID and password, if not, you will need to create your UCalgary eID and password, then proceed to login.
    4. Complete and submit your application, and pay your $125 (Canadian education) or $145 (International credentials) application fee.
    5. Based on your application, we'll let you know in your myUCalgary Student Centre how and where to submit any required documents. BC transcripts must be requested through the BC Ministry of Education and Child Care’s Student Transcript Service to be sent electronically with the option that allows the post-secondary institution to request updates until September 1, 2025.

For non-semester/linear schools, students can submit interim transcripts with their mid-year assessment or marks after January 1. Interim transcripts can be uploaded via the Student Centre; documents should include the student’s full name.

If you have attended any other high school or post-secondary outside Alberta or BC, please refer to our documents page for more details on transcript submission.

Need more support? Students from British Columbia are able to apply the same way as students from Alberta. There’s a quick walk-through guide available on our How to Apply page.

What else can I do after I have applied?

We encourage you to take a guided tour of campus or attend a virtual event. If you would like to explore more on your own, you can download our Discover UCalgary App, which will lead you through a self-guided tour of campus. Our app will take you on a tour of campus even if you can’t physically make it to Calgary!

The University of Calgary, located in the heart of Southern Alberta, both acknowledges and pays tribute to the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, which include the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprised of the Siksika, the Piikani, and the Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations). The City of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta (Districts 5 and 6).

The University of Calgary is situated on land Northwest of where the Bow River meets the Elbow River, a site traditionally known as Moh’kins’tsis to the Blackfoot, Wîchîspa to the Stoney Nakoda, and Guts’ists’i to the Tsuut’ina. On this land and in this place we strive to learn together, walk together, and grow together “in a good way.”
